As gas prices rise steadily, many commuters are
starting to feel the pinch in their wallets with each fill
up. The annual study by the American
Automobile Association on driving costs shows it
is much more than just the price you pay at the pump,
especially for those driving alone.
Average of 52.2 cents per mile to own and
operate a new car in 2007, basically unchanged from
a year ago.
Average metro Atlanta commuter travels 28.8
miles each workday, costing more than $15, or
greater than $330 a month!
Commuters can save more than $1,000 a year
by carpooling or riding transit. In fact, a carpooler
pays as little as 33.7 cents per mile, or $214 a month.
Vanpool members with CobbRides pay only $50
per month, riding in the HOV lane and arriving
to work relaxed and refreshed.
