Gas vs. CASH! |
 |
Between May 1st and May 24th, when the average gas
price crossed the $3 mark, 357 people applied for the
Cash for Commuters program ... a 130
percent increase over the previous month. Are you
missing out? If so, go do it now! Earn cash
and save on
gas!
Carpooling is perfect for those who do not need
their car at work everyday and have a consistent work
schedule.
By carpooling just once or twice a week, commuters can
save hundreds of dollars a year on
driving-related expenses, help reduce harmful tailpipe
emissions that lead to smog and reduce their stress
levels when they arrive at work or at home.
Even one day out of five means a 20 percent reduction
in weekly wear on your car.
Carpooling will help make Cobb County a healthier
place to live and work. To get started, go to our link, or
contact Sue@CobbRides.com.

Smoke adds to our Smog |
 |
Smoke from wildfires in South Georgia and North
Florida add to our Smog conditions when the winds
come from that direction.
On those days, you can count on the Air Quality Index
being in the "Unhealthy For Sensitive Groups" range.
That includes a warning that active adults, people with
heart or lung disease (including asthma), older adults
and children should cut back or reschedule strenuous
activities.
CobbRides urges you to take the warnings
seriously.

Does your life style really pollute? |
 |
Each time you drive you generate carbon dioxide - the
carbon emissions that cause global warming. Other life
style habits are contributors, too.
For an interactive air pollution simulator that
shows how your choices, environmental factors, and
land use contribute to air pollution, use our link to
"Smog City".
Using alternative commuting solutions is one way to
save money while helping save our air.

TOL- What is it???? |
 |
Perhaps you are familiar with HOV (High Occupancy
Vehicle) lanes. You see the special lanes south of I-285
with diamond icons signifying that you may drive in
those lanes if you have more than one person in your
vehicle.
TOL stands for "Truck Only Lanes". This is a concept
that the Department of Transportation is studying
that would put trucks in a lane all their own. The
particulars of whether they would pay for this lane and
whether it would be an optional or mandatory lane for a
truck to travel in is currently under discussion.
Stay tuned for more information --- your Town Center
Community Improvement District has been attending
the DOT meetings and will keep you informed of the
progress of the I-75 TOL project.
